Q1
Improvements for Data Provisioning Agents
Real-Time Replication can now be paused - every time you need to update or install a patch for SAP HANA SDI Data Provisioning agent, or when you need to apply any changes to its configuration, you can do so now without affecting all active replication processes. Just pause the process for connections using the agent, apply the changes, and restart replication.
Ability to filter connection types - To find the right connection type more easily, you can now apply filters in the first step of the connection creation wizard.
Change management
New functions have been added to Data Builder to improve the proces of implementing and reviewing changes made to objects. You can now-
- get a better view of the status of objects (e.g. new columns like Status and Deployed On)
- change the data source in Graphical View editor
- delete a column in a table or view, even if it is used by other objects
- navigate Dependent objects
New Content Packages
Content packages help with and enhance the process of implementing reports on the DWC / SAC platform. The following packages have been added in recent updates:
- Finance for S/4HANA Cloud
- Statistical Process Control Toolkit
- Sales analysis for SAP Ariba
- Telecommunications: Customer Value Management
Q2
"What's new in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud?"
To check what changes have been recently added to SAP DWC, you do not need to use help.sap.com anymore. Now you can view the news directly from the Data Warehouse Cloud - just click on the orange banner to learn about new features.
Repository Explorer
The repository explorer, a replacement for business catalog, allows you to view all SAP DWC objects that you have access to. It also allows you to quickly create new elements.
Improvements for the Data Builder and the Business Builder
New, more advanced data modeling functions have been added to the DWC, including
- New data editor for local tables that allows you to edit tabe entries
- Ability to geo enrich the data
- Text associations, allowing for multi language support
- External hierarchies
- Input parameters (equivalent to variables from BW)
- Ability to copy Data Entites properties while duplicating objects
Partitioning
Now using Remote Table Monitor we can partition the columns and divide the data into smaller, more easily manageable parts. Thanks to this, we can avoid situations where replication processes fail due to insufficient memory.
Integration of SAP HANA monitoring views and cockpit
Now to monitor resource consumption such as database memory or CPU usage, you can share SAP HANA monitoring views with DWC spaces. To perform more advanced monitoring and analysis, you can also connect to the SAP HANA cockpit using the database user.
New connection type: open connectors
This type of connection allows the use of SAP Open Connectors directly in the DWC space. With it, you can quickly connect to third-party cloud applications that are not supported by SAP Data Warehouse Cloud
System administration changes
Administrative tasks can now be performed directly in SAP DWC - settings that previously required putting the product into Analytics mode can now be found in the System side navigation for Data Warehouse Cloud.
Q3
New data access control functions
Now we can persist views with assigned data access controls - all settings are then copied to the view replica, so that users can see only the information for which they have permission.
Import of authorizations defined in SAP BW ∕ 4HANA 2.0 to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is also available, which enables protection of data retrieved from these systems at the row level.
New connection type: Precog
With the new connection type, you can extend the standard options for SAP DWC connections to include the additional data sources that are available from Precog.
New Content Packages
New sales data content packages have been added to Content Network.
Q4
SAP BW Bridge
Thanks to SAP BW bridge, we can use the Business Warehouse functionality in the public cloud and import BW bridge data models to the Data Warehouse Cloud.
Intelligent Lookup
When combining data, there might be a situation where we lack an appropriate join partner: there may be no column in primary entity that uniquely identifies records in the second entity, or its data may be incomplete. In such situations, we can now take advantage of intelligent lookup.
Intelligent Lookup can connect any two entities that have a semantic relationshi, even if one entity is unable to identify records in the other.
New features in Data Flow
In the Data Flow, we can now import Excel files from a remote repository and configure them in the data flow.
New features in Business Builder
Two new functions have been implemented in the Business Builder:
- Business units can now handle the definitione of attributes with texts and language dependent texts.
- For measures, you can now also use exception aggregation in addition to the standard aggregation types.
Improved management of large data volumes
To help manage large amounts of data, partitioning for remote tables has already been added this year. Now we can use the same functionality for views as well.
To further optimize performance and reduce the amount of data, the ability to use a filter option has been added when loading data into a remote table.
New connection type – Generic SFTP
We can now connect to SFTP file repositories in the local network and consume CSV, JSON files in data flows.
